about

Blake Rash is an old-time fiddler from Whitetop, Virginia. His great grandfather was the legendary Corbit Stamper (visit fieldrecorder.org/product/397/ to find a CD by Corbit), who influenced and taught many fiddlers, like Albert Hash. Blake took up fiddle as a young man learning from Emily and Thornton Spencer. He had never heard his great grandfather play at that time, but his style came out to sound naturally like Corbit. Tracks 1-10 were recorded in the summer of 2005 for an unreleased album for the VFH program. The rest were recorded at private parties and gatherings by Jeremy Stephens and Kilby Spencer during 2005 and 2006. We hope you enjoy this compilation of Blake's wonderful and unique fiddling!
